Good day,
I'm Dimitris Vaporis
I'm a student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, interested in
Computer Vision and Theoretical Machine Learning. I enjoy sports, games, music and films (in that order!). Feel free to ask me about my favorites!
Right now
I am currently completing my Thesis titled "Talking Heads: Phoneme Prediction from Video", in the field of Visual Speech Recognition (VSR), under the supervision of Prof. Anastasios Delopoulos.
You can find out more about the project here. I am also trying to figure out what comes next in my journey, after I graduate from AUTh.
Next
I would like to pursue a career in the field of Computer Vision, in order to build safe, reliable and inclusive systems that help people communicate and interact with the world around them.
I believe it is our duty, as engineers and scientists, to provide for our communities, especially for those who are disadvantaged or marginalized. Thus, I am particularly interested in projects that focus on accessibility and inclusivity, such as assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
I would love to work in a research-oriented environment, where I can converse and collaborate with other like-minded individuals. After all, collaboration is the key to innovation and progress.
